Bar El Dorado, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. The sign on the street says sandwiches, tapas and set meals. The kitchen makes encebollado, seco de pollo and bolón de verde — Ecuadorian home cooking. On Google it was filed as “bar”, with no menu, no website and an opening time nobody had checked.

So anyone searching for Ecuadorian food nearby never found it, and anyone who did find it could not tell what was cooked inside.

The front of Bar El Dorado, with its sign and the Ecuadorian flag in the window. A bolón de verde with a fried egg and a cup of coffee on the bar counter. Fried meat with patacones, pickled cucumber and red onion.

Taken in the bar, on the bar’s own plates. No stock photography and no other restaurant’s food.

What did not
add up

Three things, and none of them was the design of the website.

The sign and the kitchen say different things. The sign brings in the neighbour who wants a sandwich; the kitchen is why somebody crosses town. Google has to carry both, or you lose half your customers. The profile now sits under two categories: bar and Ecuadorian restaurant.

The opening times remembered at home were not the ones on the door. They were checked before anything was touched, and the same ones now appear on the website and on Google. An hour that lies costs you a customer who turns up at a closed door — and that customer does not come back.

There was no phone number to publish. The one in use is a personal mobile, so it stays off the internet. Nothing was invented to fill the gap: the profile carries the address, the directions and the menu, and that is what it carries.

What was delivered

01

A Google profile that says what is cooked

Two categories, a written description, the real opening times, the website, and a menu of 19 dishes and drinks that can be read without leaving Google.

02

A one-page website, with the menu inside

Menu, drinks, opening times and how to get there, made for a phone. Its own legal notice, with the owner’s name and tax number, because the law asks for it and a bar cannot invent one.

03

Six photographs, taken in the bar

The front and five plates, on the bar’s own crockery and with no customers’ faces in them. They are what somebody deciding where to eat actually looks at.

  • Time it took

One afternoon in the bar for the photographs and the menu, and a day of work. The family approved every price and every dish name before anything was published.

  • Who owns it

The website and the Google profile are the bar’s, under the owner’s name, not mine. That is how every job here works: you can walk away with it.

  • Still open

Prices per dish, a photo for each remaining one, and replies to the reviews already on the profile. Written down with a date, not forgotten.

Bar El Dorado is my mother’s bar. Saying it before you ask: the work is real and published, but this was not a customer who found me in the street. And there are no visit figures on this page, because the profile was brought up to date on 15 September 2026 and there are not yet two months to compare. When there are, they will come from Google’s own statistics, with their date on them.
